This unique mandolin is based on the Simon Mayor model, but with a shorter 352mm scale. The sound is very responsive, with great depth of tone, a strong bass, complex mid range, and sweet trebles.
Visually the instrument is stunning. Highly figured Quilted Maple, Sitka Spruce and Macasser Ebony, are combined with Planewood bindings and red line veneer highlights .
A natural finish highlights the contrasting timbers. The art deco inspired inlay is cut from mother of pearl and green malachite

“I’ve played many an excellent mandolin over the years, but the Vanden I bought new in 1983 has been used on stage and on all my recordings ever since.
It’s truly a mandolin for life. Can’t say more than that, really!”Simon Mayor
